Hand Painted Silk Scarves

I have a new passion, well, don't know how new it is, I have always loved them.  Now I am offering hand painted silk scarves in my shops and I love them!!  They are so much fun!  I keep offering more each week, but right now look at my treasures. 

Great Barrier Reef

I do love blues and teals together.  This gorgeous ocean blue and teal streaked scarf is hand painted and is 100% silk. Hand hemmed as well. The colors are so rich and true that they remind me of the Great Barrier Reef pictures I've seen. This is my way of going to a tropical locale.

Lovely mixture of blues, greens, and teals dripping into each other to create a picture for you to wear with your favorite outfit. Imagine this with a Winter White outfit!!

Over the Rainbow

This one has been so popular that I've had to go back into the studio repeatedly to recreate it.  I personally love it because it will match absolutely anything you wear!!  It has a little of this and a little that until it truly makes me think rainbow!  One bride has asked for this in a sash and train for her wedding--I'll let you know how that turns out.  Still cogitating that one.

Prim and Proper

I call this one the Prim and Proper because the royal wedding was in full swing and I could picture one of the Royals wearing it.  The extraordinary part is one bride ordered these colors in a shawl for her mother to wear with her dress on the wedding day.  I received her response when she opened her package: "The shawl was FABULOUS!!! My mom loooooved it and she can't wait to wear it with her dress!!! Thanks again!"  It is so wonderful to hear from the recipients when they finally have their product in their hands.  Hopefully, I will be able to get a picture of her on the special day.

Tropical Island

Hmmmm, I'm starting to see a theme here; does this mean I need to take a vacation to someplace warm and sandy with palm trees?  Possibly.  This one is called Tropical Island and now I'm thinking how about a nice wrapper or sarong type thing to tie around your waist over your suit.  Yep, I'm really on a theme now.  Okay, how about wearing this lovely scarf with your white pant/short/dress suit to the garden wedding or picnic this summer.  See, I can get back to thinking more normally for the rest of us. 


All the scarves are 11" x 60" and should be dry cleaned or hand washed in cold water. Low iron steam.  But as you can tell, I am open to suggestions: need a shawl?  a larger scarf?  a poncho?  a ruana (big wrapper, my personal favorite)?  Contact me and let's use our imaginations together.
 
I even received a custom order for a goddess in Australia.  She has goddess products and wanted the scarves to match her theme.  I think the match turned out so well.  Let me know what you think.  Here's a couple:

Hair Pins vs. Bobby Pins -- Who Knew??

It is wedding season again and those brides are out selecting all the important essentials for the fairytale wedding they have always dreamed about.  

I have been making hair combs and hair pins or what I thought were hair pins with pearls and crystals.  Now I find out that I've been making bobby pins!  Yes, I remember using bobby pins and calling them that, but now my latest bride has educated me about the difference between hair pins and bobby pins.  

She wants hair pins--they are just to decorate the hair; not bobby pins--they are for hold.  Okay, it does make sense to me.  So, I am now stocked with lots of hair pins as well as my combs and bobby pins.

Pearl & Crystal Hair PIN

Single Pearl Hair PINS

This little bride wanted the one ornate pin with pearls and crystals, with a dozen of the single pearl pins.  I will certainly try to get a picture of her hair for the special day, but my imagination envisions quite a head of hair with special curls and little pearls throughout.  I believe this will be a gorgeous look and I am anxious to see the final result.

So my shop now offers both hair pins and bobby pins, as well as hair combs.  I have different sizes of combs now so stay tuned for the preview of those little treasures.

Vintage Creations

I have fallen in love with some vintage trinkets I've found.  I just love creating things that have either a Victorian or romantic feel about them.  I did receive some beautiful items from an estate of a recently deceased lady, Victoria, and have enjoyed thinking of ways to keep her love of pretties alive by reviving them.  This piece is the first of my creations:

 

Vintage Victoria Necklace

Next I felt the need to utilize some gorgeous antiqued gemstones in combination with antiqued brass chain, and of course, I had to include some of my hand painted silk to finished them off as bracelets.

 I loved these clear stones and utilized a pretty peacock colored silk to coordinate with it for a romantic bracelet with chains. 

 This bracelet contains some gorgeous fire opals with pretty pink gemstones with the antiqued brass chain and finished off with the rich burgundy silk bow.

And we all love pretty earrings, so I had to create some simple and elegant earrings utilizing these vintage stones.

Now I have a great little bag of rhinestone necklaces, brooches, and earrings that I picked up at an antique sale . . . what to design with these???

What's a Leg Without a Garter?

The final touch for any wedding is the garter for the lovely leg of the bride.  There will be plenty of fun at the reception when it comes time to remove said garter and throw it to the crowd.  Some grooms are shy and will gently remove the garter with their hands, trying to be as gentlemanly as possible; while others will use their teeth to grasp and remove the lovingly worn garter.  Either way, it was fun to make some garters for the upcoming nuptials.  My creations thus far:

Okay, those are her three choices for this wedding.  She will be wearing her white gown with grape heels, I love her style!!

And finally, one to throw!  The brides are now wanting to hang on to the keepsake garter so they request a second one to throw.  A little smaller so her leg isn't completely full as she walks down the aisle.

Have we forgotten anything?  Oh, surely so, but it won't be missed if we did.  Perhaps after the big event we will have pictures to show the items in action!
