FIVE Days to Go!!!

Oy, FIVE more days to go!!  I do hope you have been getting your wrapping finished.  Okay, I know that I have some wishful thinking going on here when many of you haven't even finished shopping.  Let's be honest, some of my friends are just getting started with their shopping.  If you are in that same boat, then let me help you with a few last minute ideas from the handmade shops on Etsy.  I have perused the Etsytwitter Team shops today to look for some goodies.

To start out I found this very cool little pendant (since I am an avid Potter fan, I couldn't pass this one up) in the Pretty Whimsical shop.  Perfect for any of those teen/tween girls on that long list.
Team Potter Scrabble Piece
Now what about that co-worker??  I found this adorable desk calendar from Maddesign and I believe it would be the perfect gift for that person who has everything.
2012 Desk Calendar
I found some adorable little lollipop ornaments in the shop called From Nancy's Heart.  These are so cute that you could use them when you tie the bow on the package serving as a decoration and a little extra gift for their tree.
Lollipop Ornaments
Look at these great Lavender Rose lip balms from Aquarian Bath.  These would be super great stocking stuffers for that special morning or how about giving to your mail person, your pet groomer, your most important hair dresser, your massage therapist (yes, some people have a regular), or even your neighbor.
Lip Balm
Here is an awesome idea!  Pick up some of these great cup sweaters from Kim White Creations to use for gifts to some of your friends who love to drive thru that local coffee shack on their way to work or play.  Stick a gift card from that coffee shack inside it and you are all set!
Cup Sweaters in Various Colors
If you need to look a little more, please search Etsytwitter Team on Etsy to find more handmade goodies from this hard working team.

Good luck on finalizing that list!

Etsy Twitter Team Shop of the Week - Pretty Whimsical

The Etsy Twitter Team features a different member each week to be in the spotlight.  This week is Pretty Whimsical and I must admit that I just want to order one of everything when I peruse her shop.  She has such wonderful little scrabble tile pendants and she has made something that will be a perfect gift for each and every one of your friends.

I spent the day outside today--the entire day for the first time this year--and I am once again enthralled with Mother Nature and her wonders.  When I shopped through the Pretty Whimsical shop I found some gorgeous pieces that reminded me of nature and the great outdoors.

Bee Collage

I found this gorgeous collage featuring a bee and the illusion of a honey comb and many flowers.  This piece comes in an organza bag and is ready to slip on to a ball chain and is only $7.95.  That is a great price for such a work of art.

Hummingbird Pink Flower
Next I found an adorable little hummingbird with it's little beak stuck in a pink flower.  The hummingbird and flower are vivid colors with a really nice antiqued background that truly makes the foreground pop with color.  Again the price is right.

Day at the Beach
My last selection was a tough one to make.  In keeping with the nature theme I found some Koi fish in a pond, more birds, bees, etc., but finally settled on the beach picture for those of you near the shores.  Just a wonderful way to spend the day!!

Stop by Stacey's shop this week and see what you can find.  She has a special for us:

Use coupon code: FREECHAIN
to receive a 24"   silver ball chain with each pendant ordered.
(Yes, she does ship internationally.)

I will also list her other venues so you can 'like' her, 'follow' her . . . you get the picture.

    Vintage is the new Fad???

The more I read, the more I find out about this latest craze for vintage or retro.  I have witnessed my daughter as she searches through thrift stores, garage sales and now Etsy for those precious vintage items.  She is just one of many who have decided to go 'green' to help save our environment and their march for the old is astonishing.

With this in mind, I need to tell you about my mother.  She has a huge place on the lake with a guest house out back and two super-sized garages.  Yes, I learned my 'save everything' ways from my parents.  You just never know when we will have another depression.  Have you seen the "Grapes of Wrath"?  Holy cow, I watched that for a film class and now I'm even worse about throwing things out.  Anyway, I digress . . . my mother wants to move back to Colorado into a nice condo or patio home.  Needless to say, it will be time to scale down.

Her biggest problem is what to do with all her wonderful items she has collected or saved over the years.  After 60 years of marriage, my parents have accumulated a substantial treasure trove.  My daughter's idea was for grandma to open her own vintage Etsy shop.  After a little coaxing, she has done just that.  She is now the proud proprietor of the Azalea Attic on Etsy.

She grows azaleas all around her home at the lake in Oklahoma and Shilo thought that would be a fitting name for grandma's new venture.  My mother was an Avon lady for years and she did quite well.  She was in the President's Club and various other items.  She was a team leader, etc.  Now I think you know what is coming.  She not only purchased many treasures, but she earned some super special Avon awards as well.  Wow, wait until you see some of her goodies.

    Miss Albee Thimble Set

This thimble set is of the very first Avon lady, Miss Albee, and it shows her various outfits with hats over the years.  You couldn't purchase this, but could only earn it.  It was quite a prestigious award for the President's Club members.  She has it for sale in her new shop.

    American Heirloom Dragonfly Bowl
This bowl is so delicate and colorful that she only displayed it.  It comes with it's own little stand.

    Avon Easter Bunny Lady

Another award earned and isn't she a beauty.  This little Avon Easter Bunny has her Avon bag and is applying her last coat of lipstick before she approaches the door.  A keepsake for sure.

    Little Things Mean A Lot!
    Cherished Moments Last Forever!

Both of these little figurines were made by Precious Moments specifically for Avon for Mother's Day.  What sweet sentiments they both portray and how nice would these be for a new mother for Mother's Day, or perhaps for that special person that has always been like a mother to you??

Her shop is getting new items daily and I am hopeful she sells them all so she can move back to Colorado soon.  We can have so much fun if she were just a little closer.  She would love movie day with my friends or game night with the crowd.

Stop by her shop Azalea Attic and look through her goodies.  Post her on your Facebook and give her a tweet.  She even has her own twitter account @AzaleaAttic!

Cinco de Mayo - Let's Celebrate!!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!  The fifth of May in 1862, the Mexican army fought a battle in Puebla against the French army.  This battle was destined to be won by the French, but the Mexican people had more will and determination for freedom than many realized.  This date has been celebrated since then with much gusto and revelry by both the United States and the Mexican people.

In honor of this festive day, I am posting some of my popular Calaveras earrings; aka Day of the Dead, Día de los Muertos, and Sugar Skulls.  There are probably more, but this is what I'm aware of at this time.

    Dressed up version with bows!

    Purchased for a wedding!

I can hardly wait to see the picture of the bride with these earrings on for the special day!!

I have them in all colors.  Just let me know what your favorite color is and I'll create a pair just for you!!  What about pink???

    Great for the girly girl!

     Purple, you say??

    Is Purple Regal??

I could go on and on, but you get the drift.  These are fun and versatile.  Use them for Halloween, Cinco de Mayo, Day of the Dead, or even for that wedding day!  I'll post her picture as soon as I receive it.

Enjoy some fun food and drink, as well as time with good friends.  Now, I'm off to make some margaritas and some tacos!!!  Celebrate!!

    Why I Love Treasuries

The Etsy treasuries are picks from the various Etsy shops chosen by other Etsy artists.  It is such an honor when your items are selected.  If these treasuries turn out to be popular; i.e., tons of clicks, tons of view, tons of comments . . . well, you get the drift.  The Etsy admin staff will choose different treasuries to be featured on the coveted "Front Page of Etsy" and/or even selected for an "Etsy Finds."

Each one of these coveted spots will bring hundreds of views to your particular item and shop; thus increasing your chance for sales.  I know we all LOVE to create and make our treasures, but to be honest with you, we are all about the sales!!

The Etsy teams work to help each other gain notoriety and possibly reach those coveted spots.  We help each other to succeed.  Success is dependent on the person and their particular goals.  Yes, we all make goals.  Some on paper; some on an inspiration board; some in coaching sessions; others in whispered prayers; but we all make goals or promises we make to ourselves.

My latest goal is to reach 300 sales by my Etsy anniversary in May.  Others set their goals by dollars made in a particular time period, or bills paid.  We all create our beauties with the intent to share them with the world and are thrilled when someone 'out there' finds our creation and loves it enough to purchase it.  When we wrap our treasures in our own artistic method and tuck it in the package to send to a new home, we all smile.  We are one step closer to our goal and our item made from our imagination and with love will soon be with someone that will love it (we hope) as we intended.

Feedback is such an important thing for the artist to receive.  We anxiously check the feedback each day just as we check for sales.  It makes you proud and happy all over again to receive some great feedback and to find out how much your item is liked and cherished.

So, I started out just trying to let you know why I love treasuries and why they are important for those of you who aren't Etsy regulars.  For some reason this turned into a full fledged article.  Sorry, I know I usually carry on about Hockey!!

Speaking of . . . the Colorado Eagles are in the Turner Conference Finals!!  Starting Friday!!

Okay, that's enough for tonight, but please do take the time to look at the shops included in some of these treasuries.  You may find a new treasure, or a lovely gift for Mother's Day, or a birthday, or an 'atta girl/boy . . . leave me a comment to let me know what you found.

Something Green - UWIB Blog Hop!! Join in!!

Nowadays when you hear the words 'something green' you are immediately drawn to the ecosystem that we have ignored for so many years.  Let's try to be more 'green' by recycling, carry our own bags into the store, carpool to work or play, buy a Smart car; the list is long and every little bit helps.

But what about St. Patrick's Day at this time of year??  Don't we think green when that date starts to role around?  Wear green, drink green beer, celebrate the Irish in any way we know how.  What is St. Patrick's Day all about anyway?

St. Patrick's Day is on March 17th because it is believed to be the day the saint died.  Before his death, he is said to have brought the Christian religion to Ireland.  "Saint Patrick's Day has come to be associated with everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck. Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning, St. Patrick's Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide" (www.st-patricks-day.com).

Regardless of the reason you 'think green' let's see what we find to help you along those lines via handmade avenues on Etsy presented by those Unique Women in Business team members.  First, I found a adorable dog collar:

Crazy for Collars offers this piece of Green!

Let's go straight from our beloved pet to that precious little baby or grandbaby:

Fashion Touch does wonders with green yarn.

    What about for ourselves:

AudreyGardenLady can twist beads & wire like crazy!

    Or a gift for Mom/Sis/BFF:

LMCreations can cut fabric to fit!

Let's think about really going 'Green' with this double duty tote--made from an upcycled tee into a great tote with a SHAMROCK on it!!  Talk about Green!

Rita's Creations serve double duty with Green!

Now I would like to introduce you to some other UWIB team members that are blogging "Think Green" and give you a chance to see what those witty women think when they hear the term.  Check them out, leave a comment and tell them I sent you!!

After you check them out come back here and leave me a comment telling me which one you think hit on the same meaning you have when you Think Green.  I will send one of you a cute pair of green shamrock earrings as a gift.  (I will use Random.org to draw the winner.)

    The prize:

    Momma Goddess Think Green prize

Okay, here's the list:  Happy Green Hunting!!!

    Feedback from customers is GOOD!

I love interaction with my customers, like most people I especially enjoy positive feedback.  Recently, one of my customers requested some special 'ear pins' made for her daughter.  I had already been working on something similar, so I quickly finished them and sent her pictures.  She purchased them for her daughter and later returned to buy a pair for her niece.  Her daughter claims, 'she was the coolest girl in school,' and who wouldn't love that??

I have since sold more pairs with a little variation.  Today one of my customers sent me a picture of these unique earrings and I want to share it with you.  I now call them Ear Vines since they vine up your ears like a plant.

Here's my model Debbie Anderson (cute little ear, isn't it??):

I have them on my Etsy site with different crystals and some with just plain silver beads, as requested by Bridget for her daughter.  Contact me if you want a different color or style and I'll do my best to please you.

Bridget's feedback: "This is the second pair of these fabulous Ear Pins I have purchased from this wonderful shop. The Ear Pins arrived quickly and beautifully packaged. The workmanship is exquisite and the design is fun and unusual. This is a great shop with wonderful customer service and I will definitely return soon."

I love trying new things and when it pleases the customer, it doubles the enjoyment.  Give these little 'ear pins/vines' a try--you will love them.

    Snow Day!!

We have SNOW!!! It is a lovely white day. The snow started last night and has continued all day. Just soft and peaceful flakes drifting down the entire day. Our little dogs had great fun playing in it and would run back in to warm up on Momma's lap. Lucy is a little black yorkie-poo and she was covered with the snow. Now, Ellie is an elegant little white poodle and a little more mature. She is a little lady and tried not to get so wet. When the squirrels stuck their little heads out to tease the dogs, we had a little frenzy in the snow, but for the most part it was out and back in to warm up.

Cold and snowy weather made it a perfect day for a crockpot full of stew. The house smells yummy and we didn't have to leave for any reason. That was the nice part.

Now if I would have to go out in this I have found a wonderful little addition to my wardrobe that I don't think I can live without. Picture this on a snowy day:
This is called Butterscotch Ripple Knitted Wrap in Sweet Caramel, Creamy and Chocolate Brown and is a creation of Fashion Touch, an especially nice Etsy shop. Be sure you browse her shop before it gets too cold in your area! She is a member of Unique Women in Business and will treat you well! Tell her I sent you!

In the meantime, stay warm and enjoy a little comfort food! Okay back to my studio . . . many treasures to create.

    Whirlwind Day!

Literally, it has been a whirlwind day (the wind has been gusting all day) and I've been running around like a crazy person. Had to take the dogs to the groomer first thing in the morning and then made it home in time to ship a couple of sales! Yahoo! The new bookmarks have been popular--check them out and tell me what you think. I better make a few more just in case.

Picked up the beautiful pooches and then posted more items on my etsy site -- www.mommagoddess.etsy.com. Now, it's Friday night and I believe it is time to kick back and put my feet up for a breather! Have a lovely night and keep creating!
